About the Teacher
Destiny has been teaching the violin for more
than 10 years. She recently completed her degree in violin performance and
education from the Cole Conservatory. She currently has a studio of 15
students in Fountain Valley.
A few words from
my students...
When I purchased my violin a few
years ago, the music store salesman wanted to make sure that I
understood what I was doing. His exact comment was, “Lady, it will take
you eight years of lessons before anyone willingly asks you to play for
them. Are you sure you want to spend the money to buy a violin that’ll
probably end up stuck in the back of your closet?” I guess this was his
“nice” way of asking me if I realized I was too old to start playing the
violin! Fortunately, I ignored his comment, purchased my violin, and
began taking lessons with Destiny Ankers as my teacher.
The salesman’s prediction of
wasted money might have come true if it hadn’t been for Destiny’s
patience and understanding. At my first lesson, I didn’t even know how
to hold the violin and bow! Today – three years later – I’ve progressed
to playing pieces well beyond my original expectations. My progress is
primarily due to Destiny’s positive attitude – she won’t let me quit --
and extensive teaching experience. I may have been too old by a
salesman’s standards but, thanks to Destiny, I’ve been able to enjoy
“making music” in my later years. I would recommend Destiny as a teacher
to any adult thinking about taking on this challenge. She’s the perfect
teacher and mentor!
